Exactly a year ago, Tata entered the premium hatchback segment with the 45X, a.k.a. the Altroz. This is first the car to be pinned by the alpha architecture. Also, the car had received a five-star rating from the Global NCAP test making it the safest hatch in the country. With a refreshed look and impressive list of features, the Altroz resonated with its tagline ‘Gold Standard’.
Coming to 2021, Tata unveiled the most awaited Altroz turbo petrol version. Now, with this offering, Tata overcame the shortcoming of this car which is a poor petrol powertrain. Also, there will be a brand new DCt offering soon. Now everyone is happy.

What’s New for the Altroz Turbo?
Powertrain of the Altroz turbo
The iTurbo gets a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder unit from the Nexon, which is turbocharged. Tata has tuned the engine to suit the Altroz and can produce 107 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
If you are an automatic guy, there is a good and bad news for you. The good news is that Tata offers a DCt transmission for the Altroz turbo but you will have to wait for some more time to drive it to your garage. With this powertrain, Most of the shortcomings of the Altroz has vanished.
Features of the Altroz turbo
Altroz turbo is not just about its performance. There are some cool extra features added to the car with this version.
Altroz is now connected! the connected car tech of the Altroz turbo helps you to do a lot of things. Locking and unlocking, GPS based services, remote diagnostics, remote immobilization and 23 more. The safest hatch is now more secure.
Another important change lies in its infotainment unit. The voice assistant gets better. You can now speak in hinglish (Hindi + English), and the assistant understands it without a flaw. That’s cool and hope it gets better with more languages!!
Other notable features include Xpress cooling, tweeters by Harman, Personalised wallpaper on the infotainment screen and one touch up power windows.
Looks
Not much to talk about here. The Altroz turbo gets a new colour which is harbour blue which looks good like many other Tata’s colours. And the interior gets a black and grey colour scheme.
Tata offers the Altroz turbo across three variants XT, XZ, XZ+ and prices will be announced during the official launch which is 22nd of January. The car rivals against polo GT and the i20 turbo.
